What’s in Your Vehicle?

We’ve done a fair amount of writing on the items to consider as part of your everyday carry and the items we keep around in our bug out bags that are ready in our homes in the event of an emergency. And we’re not talking about the zombie apocalypse. We know, we know--The Walking Dead has everybody considering what they’d do in the event that zombies overtook the earth, but what’s more likely to happen: a zombie apocalypse or a massive flood that happens while you’re at work? Probably the latter.

So are you prepared? You’re all set on a daily basis because you carry one of our kydex gun holsters and your firearm of choice (among other things). Your go-bag is waiting at your house.

The thing is that you’re not at your house though and you can’t carry everything you’d need in the event of an emergency with you on your person. It’s great to have a bag full of items in your home that allow you to get out quickly if that’s where you are, but have you ever considered what you need to keep with you in your vehicle?

A Few Suggestions from the Team at Fierce Defender

What do you need to keep in your vehicle? You have quite a bit less room than you have in your home, of course, but you also don’t want to overdo it. Luckily for you, we’re here to help. Here are a few of our suggestions for what you ought to keep in your vehicle in the event of an emergency:

  • A good blanket
  • A first aid kit
  • Protein bars
  • A few bottles of water
  • Jumper cables
  • A change of clothes (swap these out seasonally)
  • A few spare mags
  • A phone charger
  • A flashlight
  • Duct tape

This should be enough to cover pretty much any situation that life throws your way. Your goal is to be prepared but not overly loaded down. Being well-rounded means being prepared for anything and by adding a few items to a gym bag and tossing it in the trunk of your vehicle, you can make sure that you’re ready for anything from a freak storm to a national catastrophe.

Consider Your EDC

If your EDC consists of one of our kydex gun holsters, your favorite firearm, a pocket knife, and a wallet with a bit of cash, you should be pretty well set. Try to balance your EDC and your vehicle to ensure that you have everything you’d need in the event that there was some type of emergency that kept you from getting back to your home. Is there an ideal combination? No. But there is a combination of items that will work well for you.

Preparedness is the name of the game, and the team here at Fierce Defender believes that putting a bit of thought into potential emergencies that could come your way is the best way to be ready for anything. So stock up on the items that you know you’ll need in order to be prepared and don’t hesitate to let us know what we missed in the comments section. We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
