What are those things, you ask? Keep reading to find out!
How to Get the Most Out of Your Custom Gun Holster
Wear It Around the House
This is probably the best thing you can do right out of the gate. Getting a new holster is exciting, but even having something that is custom made for you can take a little bit of getting used to. One way to get used to your holster is to simply wear it around the house for awhile. Throw it on while you’re sitting on the couch watching television. Keep it on your belt while you go out and rake the leaves. Do the dishes for your significant other and keep your holster on your hip.
The point is to simply do a number of different activities while wearing your holster. Before you know it, it will feel like it is a part of you. After all, when you need it the most, you want to know exactly how it’s going to behave in a number of different situations.
Practice Your Draw
Why do you choose to carry a concealed weapon? Your answer is most likely going to be that you want to be able to protect yourself or your loved ones in the event that the need arises. If that’s the case, the best holster in the world will become useless if you don’t have a smooth and fluid draw. The only way to make sure that you can draw your weapon perfectly is to practice, practice, practice.
Set aside a few minutes to practice multiple times each day and focus on being consistent in your approach. This is absolutely an instance where practice makes perfect and if you’re ever in a situation where you need to unholster your firearm, your muscle memory will kick in and it will feel like second nature.
Consider Your Clothing
One thing that always seems to be an afterthought is your clothing. When you’re wearing one of our custom concealed carry holsters, the goal is for it to remain hidden. If you wanted it to show, you would probably simply be open carrying. The benefit of having a concealed weapon is that you’re the only one who knows you have it, therefore you’ll want to be certain that the average Joe on the street is none the wiser that you’re carrying.
If it’s winter, your life is a little bit easier. A flannel shirt with a jacket over the top will almost certainly ensure that no one is able to tell that you have a firearm on you. Warmer weather, on the other hand, can be tricky. Choose your clothing wisely and be sure to ask a loved one whether or not they can tell that you’re carrying.
One more quick note about practicing your draw. It’s important that you practice wearing a wide variety of clothing. You don’t want to get the butt of your pistol caught on a longer-than-usual button up shirt, after all! Test out the clothing that you’re planning to wear and practice your draw at the same time to cover all of your bases and you should be good to go no matter what situation comes your way.
