In this quick video, we share a simple yet effective tip to make carrying an IWB Kydex +1 style holster, (sometimes referred to as a "sidecar")  more comfortable and concealable. If you're using an appendix carry setup, this tip is perfect for improving both comfort and concealment.

Quick Fix for Appendix Carry Comfort

The key to improving your comfort while carrying a Kydex "sidecar" holster lies in the position of your belt buckle. By sliding the buckle around to the side, you can eliminate the bulge created by the buckle, which often presses against the holster. This simple adjustment allows the holster to sit more naturally against your body, reducing discomfort and making your firearm more concealed.

This is a great trick if you're new to appendix carry, as it significantly enhances day-to-day wear by distributing pressure evenly and avoiding unwanted printing.

What Is a Sidecar Holster, and How Does It Work?

A +1 holster is a specialized type of inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster designed for concealed carry—especially in the appendix position. Its key feature is an integrated magazine carrier placed beside the main holster body, forming a single, streamlined unit. This setup allows you to carry both your firearm and a spare magazine in one compact package, keeping everything within easy reach up front.

The magic behind our +1 flex holsters is their use of a flexible, modular connection; tegris. This lets the holster flex and conform naturally to your hip as you move. This helps avoid those pressure points that can make appendix carry uncomfortable after a few hours. You get better concealment (less printing) and much more day-long comfort.

If you ever want to ditch the spare mag (maybe you’re running a slimmer setup that day), simply remove the attachment and rock just the holster.

In short, a sidecar holster is all about adaptability and comfort for concealed appendix carry. It keeps your essentials close, reduces unwanted printing, and can be configured to suit your daily needs.

Weapon Light Compatibility: What Fits With This Holster Setup?

If you prefer to carry with a weapon light attached, you’re in luck—this holster design is built to accommodate several of the most popular models on the market. Like the Streamlight TLR-1 HL, TLR-7, TLR-7A, & TLR-7 HL-X. With more models always in the works.

Supported firearm platforms include popular options such as Glock 19/45, Sig Saur P365 Xmacro, Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro, FN 509, and more.

If you’re planning to order, you’ll notice options to purchase with or without the mag carrier. We give you the option to purchase without the mag carrier in the event you want to either break up your purchases over time, or say you switched to a new gun and have an existing +1 flex holster at home and just need the firearm side. This is easily the most modular holster we've ever made.
